Can you tell us a bit about P&K Thornton?

Together with our sister company, Alficina, we are the home of classic Jaguar and Alfa Romeo restoration, servicing and restomods specialists. Our company was founded in 1976 by brothers Peter and Keith, Jaguar apprentices and it continues to be one of the longest established classic Jaguar restoration specialists in the World. Since 2019, the company has been under the ownership of Ciprian 'Cip' Nistorica who together with a team of versatile and experienced technicians and panel beaters created an unrivalled offering to the classic British and Italian sports cars restoration. Benefiting from fully kitted out bodyshop, rolling road for engine tuning and calibration, servicing areas and storage, our group of companies services not only the Midlands but also international clients

How did you hear about us?

We connected at local car show!

What problem were you trying to solve?

We were very eager to find a software that had ‘everything in one place’, one platform for all areas including customer relations, invoices, inventory, projects, and timesheets etc. but more importantly, we also needed a system that was bespoke to our niche daily workshop operations. Before GW, we were still very much in the middle of transitioning into being fully digital, we actually created our own time keeping software, which was eye-wateringly counterproductive, and It became very apparent that this dynamic would limit our continued growth rather than fuelling it.

How was the problem affecting you?

We trialled and tested a couple of other management systems but found them to be more of a hinderance than a help due to them extremely limited in terms of features and navigation. There was basic software on one end of the scale and then mega advanced systems predominantly built for larger corporations on the other end of the scale, and absolutely nothing in-between that would work for our needs and move our small business forward.

Why did you choose to go ahead with GlobalWorkshop?

Because it was the answer to our prayers! Yes, there are still improvements to be made and this will be ongoing until the inevitable. But GlobalWorkshop has all the key tools to be able to fully integrate digitally without the worry of not being in full control, GW is literally the purpose-built solution.

Global Workshop blew my mind with its capabilities and freedom to tweak and personalise most features to match with our requirements. Not only has it helped with our workshop functionality, it’s also tremendously contributed to our business growth and succession. We no longer have wasted production hours on paperwork instead we have a streamline system that we can all move forward with.

Are there any other benefits you have got from GlobalWorkshop?

The ability to be completely transparent with our customers is the ultimate benefit from GW. We find our customers love seeing their build on short videos and photos updates throughout all stages and can communicate instantly with us on any aspect of the project or service being carried out. We all know that some of our customers would stand next to the tech in workshop if they could, well having the update feature and keeping the customer involved every step of the way is the next best thing to just that.

We are looking to implement and utilise more of the capabilities of GW to keep track of parts used in the workshops and also parts we have available to order.
